A Look Behind the Scenes with Ossus
In December, Game Update 5.10 ‘Jedi Under Siege’ went live, where players can decide the fate of the Jedi hidden away on Ossus. We sat down with Charles Boyd, the Creative Director for Star Wars: The Old Republic, who is responsible for overseeing the game’s design and narrative, to talk about this update.
In Game Update 5.10 ‘Jedi Under Siege’ we saw the return of several characters. How did you decide which of these familiar faces players would see?
Probably the biggest example here is Darth Malgus; I always felt he was a bit shortchanged in the core game’s storyline, given that he’s easily our most iconic and recognizable Sith character. That said, I didn’t want to bring him back until his return would feel like a natural part of the story. Now that we’ve returned to the core conflict of Republic versus Sith Empire that Malgus himself originally kicked off, it seemed like the right time to bring him back into the fold.
Master Gnost-Dural is an interesting case, in that he never actually appeared in the game before this update, but was a major character in our pre-release timeline videos as well as Drew Karpyshyn’s SWTOR novel, Annihilation. It was actually Drew who suggested using Gnost-Dural when I was first outlining the Jedi Under Siege storyline! Given the setting of Ossus and the goal of preserving the Jedi and their teachings for the future, he was just a perfect fit of character and story.
Malora was probably the one character in this update that no one expected to see again, given that her previous role was fairly minor. I needed a Sith who was focused on biology, and ideally someone whose “career” had started around the same time as a Sith player’s so that they would feel more like a contemporary rather than a superior. And I loved that Malora would automatically have a bit of history with players who had completed her mission on Korriban, so she was a perfect fit.
On a similar note, what about the new characters?
With Tau Idair, my goal was to introduce someone who could grow to become an iconic hero in the same vein as Satele Shan, since Satele has moved beyond her role as the Republic counterpart to Malgus at this point. Tau personifies a

Return of Darth Malgus in ‘Jedi Under Siege’
Commemorate 7 years of Star Wars?: The Old Republic? with the return of Darth Malgus in Game Update 5.10: Jedi Under Siege – now live. Long thought dead, the return of Malgus signals a deadly new chapter in the ongoing battle for the fate of the galaxy!
Thousands of years before the Skywalker saga, war rages between the Galactic Republic and a vast and powerful Sith Empire. On the long-forgotten planet Ossus, a secret Jedi colony has come under attack by the forces of the Sith, led by their dark champion, Darth Malgus.
Recovered from the wreckage of his coup attempt and revived with a dizzying array of exotic and cutting-edge technologies, Darth Malgus is as powerful and ruthless as ever. His face bears even more scars, his body even more cybernetics; his armor has been reconstructed and enhanced to increase his strength and endurance still further. But through all of this change, Malgus the man has retained the same unyielding determination in pursuit of his sole, brutal goal: the total annihilation of the Jedi, the destruction of the corrupt Republic they serve, and the evolution of the Empire into a society worthy of the power of the Sith.

Q: For you, what is most exciting about Master Mode Gods from the Machine? What are you looking forward to players seeing?

A: There’s an undeniably special sort of fun and excitement that comes from trying to conceive of the “Final Form”, so to speak, of a set of encounters with which players are already familiar. It’s a fascinating sort of design challenge to create something that is just the right distance short of the edge of possibility, such that it can offer a meaningful and challenging puzzle to the most technically proficient players in our universe.

Because players are already familiar with the basics of an encounter, you can actually build off of that framework of familiarity. Some things which might be too obtuse to a player with zero encounter familiarity might become feasible for someone who already knows the basic rules. You can both extend existing mechanics to require some additional response or disrupt expectations to force players to reconsider the “known methods” (and sometimes you can sneak in a bit of comedy).

The biggest treat as a designer is watching players’ progression through the encounters, from initial confusion and possible frustration, to eventual mastery and satisfaction. There’s a common misconception that encounter designers consider players adversaries and want them to fail, but that’s not remotely true. The goal (at least my goal, for one) is to design something that challenges players to understand and execute, where practice and problem-solving turn initial failure into satisfying success.

let me introduce some upgrade of swtor credits in Dec this year of (2019):

Q: Gods from the Machine is not an entirely new Operation, as it was rolled out one boss at a time over the past year. Can you talk a little bit about the Operation for people who are unfamiliar with it?

A: Sure. The Gods from the Machine Operation takes place on Iokath, the incredibly advanced Dyson sphere “planet” originally created by the now extinct Iokathian Creator race. In it, players do battle with the Machine Gods of Iokath.

See, centuries ago, the Creators produced a handful of unique machine-beings and then sent them to contact (read: mess with) more primitive cultures for “research” purposes. There wasn’t really any one objective to this effort. Like many of the things the Creators did, this project was a mishmash of multiple objectives: Testing/proofing technologies, synthetic intelligence/personality research, sociocultural manipulation techniques, and so on. Objectives consistent with their culture that valued knowledge and advancement for their own sake, absent (or in their opinion, “transcendent of”) moral boundaries.

When these beings were encountered by the ancient, pre-Valkorion Zakuulan culture, the machines were deified. Their appearances, characteristics, and personalities were shaped into mythological beings. These myths evolved over the centuries, leading to the modern-day Zakuulan pantheon: Tyth, god of Rage. Aivela and Esne, twin goddesses of Passion and Envy. Nahut, the Son of Shadow. Scyva, the Mother of Sorrows. Izax, the Destroyer.

The Empire and Republic encountered the forgotten gods by happenstance. The factions were each scouring Iokath, racing to outdo the other in securing military technology, and wandered into the Valley of the Machine Gods chasing after a powerful energy signal. This trespass seems to have awakened the Gods and invited their wrath.

I started on this project six years ago, excited, enthusiastic and energized – this was the realization of a goal I had pursued for years. I knew fate had smiled on me when I became part of the BioWare team I had admired for so long, working together with the amazing team at Lucasfilm to create a game in the Star Wars? universe, the most beloved galaxy in all of fiction. Giving gamers the chance to live out their own Star Wars story adventures in the Old Republic universe has been a truly incredible experience, and one for which I’m deeply grateful. That was our mission and the beginning of this amazing journey.

As I look back on the past five years that have led me from launch crunch, to the reincarnation of Revan and on through the delivery of six expansions including notorious Hutts, the re-awakening of an evil Emperor and the introduction of the most evil family in Star Wars – I realize that there is one part of this journey that stands out for me above all others…the relationship I have with you, the fans. My work on this game would not be as rewarding or as humbling, and definitely not as challenging (!) were it not for all of you and your commitment over the years. Building a game that evolves over time and continues to grow along with the community is a rare experience and one that I will be grateful for being a part of for my entire life. For those of you who have seen me at Cantina events or on our livestreams, you know that at times it takes the stoicism of a Jedi Master, which I am not, but it has taught me so much about the value of community and commitment. It is with that humble and grateful heart that I want to say thank you to all of you for being here over the years to share the journey with us and to help us translate the epic adventure that is Star Wars into a game you could love and share with your friends and families.

In honor of the Five-Year Anniversary we have lots of rewards to share with you in the game today; my favorite is the ‘Celebration Jawa’ – but there are tons more. Plus, we are premiering the official Star Wars: The Old Republic Character Portrait Collage today for its first reveal – this is a collage made up of player characters that you have sent us that have been brought to life in this game. This game is the tapestry of your stories, your adventures, your achievements and your commitment to us, the game and Star Wars!

I’d like to wish each of you an amazing holiday and I invite you to share the joy of a great story with someone you care about this season as we open our Chapter 1 Trial of Knights of the Eternal Throne and prepare for more adventures to come in the New Year!

In Knights of the Eternal Throne, players can experience the thrill of taking command as the ultimate ruler of the galaxy for the first-time ever in a Star Wars game. Players take on the role of the Outlander, leading an explosive fight for control against the most powerful family in the Eternal Empire. In their quest for the throne, players make choices that influence the galaxy for the light or dark side of the Force, ultimately deciding who will live, who will die and who will rule the galaxy.

“This year, it’s even more personal. We’ve raised the stakes for the player as they fight to seize control of the Eternal Throne and rule the galaxy,” said Producer Ben Irving. “But that’s not the end of your story. In fact, it’s just the beginning. You must be prepared to make difficult choices along the way to not only take the throne, but also fight to keep it.”

After conquering the throne, the all-new Galactic Command gameplay gives players an evolving multiplayer progression system featuring visceral, fast-action Star Wars combat to grow their power and influence. With three challenge modes to choose from, everyone can play their way. In new Uprisings, players will join with three allies to confront enemy factions rising up to challenge their command while earning rare and powerful rewards. In every battle, players will have to choose a side in the ongoing Dark vs. Light Side War. As the dark or light side takes control, battles will erupt across the galaxy – offering big group battles that bring players together like never before to shift the balance of the Force to their side.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a Free-to-Play*, award-winning BioWare MMORPG set in the Star Wars universe. Players team up with friends online to fight in heroic dark vs. light battles, experience visceral Star Wars combat and explore a galaxy far, far away.

Uprisings are a new four-player group content introduced with Patch 5.0. They are meant to be a lite version of flashpoints with no cutscenes and all action. Each Uprising should take regular groups about ~15 minutes to complete at the easiest difficulty. They are only available to Level 70 players and can be accessed in three ways

Swtor2credits is your best place to buy swtor credits cheap and fast for years.

Via the Galactic Command system (can’t select specific uprisings, auto-queue)
Via the Group Finder (can select specific uprisings to queue but can’t enter with less than 4 players)
Via the Uprising Terminal in Combat Training section of the fleet (allow you to enter with less than 4 players and with companions)
Currently only Story and Veteran Uprisings modes are available. Five Uprisings are available with 5.0 launch and more are planned in the future along with Master mode Uprising that are more difficult.

Story Uprisings are meant for fresh level 70s
Veteran Uprisings are meant for players in mid-tier (234/236 rating gear)
Master Uprisings are meant for players in top tier (240/242 rating gear)
CXP Farming
Uprisings are meant to be a good place to farm Command XP. They give 160 CXP and 200 CXP base for completion on story and veteran mode respectively but the last boss also drops an Uprising Bonus pack for everyone (Story mode drops Small Bonus Pack which give 240 CXP). Add in the daily activity bonus (20% more CXP), the CXP you get from killing the bosses, or the CXP Bonus from the Light/Dark Victory State and you could see about 500 CXP every 10 minutes with a premade group earning potentially 3000 CXP an hour with very little downtime.

The five Uprisings differ slightly in length as well

Inferno and Fractured are the shortest Uprisings.
Firefrost is slightly longer.
Done and Dusted and Crimson Fang are probably the longest due to multitude of bosses that have high HP.

Fate of the Galaxy & Galactic Command in KOTET

1. In the Eternal Throne, both Galactic Republic and Sith Empire forces face off against a new enemy known as the Eternal Empire.
2. Since Swtor releases in 2013, players are struggling for control of the galaxy. But this time, Knights of the Eternal Throne will take that fight to a surprising finale! The character that players control will take the Eternal Throne and become the rightful ruler of the galaxy.
3. Galactic Command with gearing changes that we have introduced before. Here, it highlights that the max Galactic Command rank is 300. And players can increase their Galactic Command rank from any activities in the game, including raiding, playing solo and focusing on PvP.

Knights of the Eternal Throne’s story chapters

Different from the Fallen Empire, Knights of the Eternal Throne’s story chapters will be available in full at launch, rather than released episodically over the course of the next year. That is to say, KOTET full nine-chapter story will be available on December 2.
Besides, Swtor Knights of the Eternal Throne will give players “unique setpieces that play differently from anything that’s been done in the game to this point”.
“In our playthrough of the first chapter, we were able to take control of a giant walker mech, using its firepower to cut a path through a dangerous battlefield. We saw clips of later setpieces, such as one where you go undercover as an enemy soldier to sneak into an Eternal Empire stronghold and one where you remotely control a tiny droid exploring a hostile base.”

Knights of the Eternal Throne is disconnected from the popular Star Wars film franchise. If you want to play it, please subscribe this game before Dec 2, and the additional content will be available to you at no extra cost. Are you ready for its coming? If you need, you can buy swtor credits fast on Swtor2credits, now with Thanksgiving special offers.
